MEDICINE CABINET
Hailing from Scotland’s central belt, Medicine Cabinet first took shape in Edinburgh before fully finding their sound in the heart of Glasgow’s infamous music scene. With a style that blends Blondie’s new wave influence, the playful energy of The B-52s, and the pop-sophistication of Britney Spears, they’re a band that brings unique flavour.
Having shared stages with the likes of Spector & Walt Disco, as well as making their mark on TRNSMT Festival 2022, Medicine Cabinet are steadily cementing themselves as ones to watch.
One of their most memorable gigs came in the unassuming setting of Wee Red Bar, Edinburgh, back in March 2020. With the world teetering on the edge of lockdown, the night had an almost feverish energy—like everyone in the room knew this might be their last chance to lose themselves in live music for a long time. I found myself scrambling to document the chaos on a borrowed point-and-shoot camera with a zoom lens after discovering, mere hours before the gig, that mine had given up the ghost. But if anything, the rawness of the shots only added to the moment.
